Disposable Children

21302506
MY REVIEW

The book Nobody comes is a true account of Anthony Cleary and his wife Carmel trying to adopt a Romanian child after the revolution against Romania's corrupt communist leader Ceausescu. They had witness horrible conditions on t.v. taking place in that country especially in the orphanages that sparked their desire to rescue a child. The book basically explains all the steps that Cleary had to go through to get a child out of Romania and into the UK. Like a lot of other books I have read the orphanages are in deplorable condition. The children are more abused than actually taken care of. It took a lot of help from a friend he made while getting the run around from both Romania and the UK. Getting anything done when in Romania took bribing with cigarettes, soap, toothpaste and even vodka. Did he get to adopt the child he found? You will have to read the book because I do not like to give away the ending. There were a few things that I did not understand about the situation. His wife did not do anything regarding the adoption. You would think if you wanted to be a mother you would put things on hold and go fight along with your husband. She really was only mentioned less than half a dozen times in the book. Also there was a part whan he had the child but instead of spending time with his possible new child he left it with a stranger for almost a week so he would not have to worry about looking after it and went sight seeing instead. I could not believe it. How bad did these people want to be parents? For those two reasons I had to drop it a star. If you are interested in this topic you would enjoy this book.

A Place Full Of Love It Is Called The Gentle Barn

The Gentle Barn weaves together the story of how the Barn came to be what it is today with Ellie's own journey. Filled with heartwarming animal stories and inspiring recoveries, The Gentle Barn is a feel-good account that will delight animal lovers and memoir readers alike.

MY REVIEW
The Gentle Barn is a must read, you will cry, laugh, fall in love and is full of excitement. This is a book that will change your life. The Gentle Barn is about Ellie Laks and her love of animals but it goes deeper for her it as if her soul speaks to them. Ellie had a rough childhood and animals always consoled her as she grew into an adult that did not change. She always filled her life being surrounded by animals. If bad things happened that did not stop her. Even though she might feel that she could handle no more it was if a miracle was always waiting around the corner to fix what was broken. The Gentle Barn started in 1999 it is a nonprofit animal farm that has took in over 200 abused animals who lived in horrible conditions before they came to Gentle Barn. Though Ellie had no real training this special gift she has was able to bring the life and spirit back to the animals. Her experiences as a child and when she felt bad inside the animals always would bring peace to her. She knew she could help special needs children by sharing the bad things that happened to the animals to the children who had also had terrible things happen to them. As the children came and related with the animals she could see special things happening. As all this time was passing other blessings came into Ellie's life. I do not want to give away too much of the book. But a couple hints could not hurt, a special partner and baby are just a couple of the joyous things that came along. The book is written so well I felt as I was there in the barnyard among the animals smelling the hay and getting a hug from the cow Buddha. This book made a big impact on my life. By learning how milk is produced now I drink soy. I also stay away from meat. I hope one day to go. Please check out the Gentle Barns web site at http://www.gentlebarn.org

Tongued by a book !!

Book with Tongue - 1988. Quint Buchholz

When the pleasure of the book becomes physical

"How, at last, has someone solidified what has always escaped—and made it too into this beautiful and perfectly enduring substance? One has to put the book down and gasp. The pleasure becomes physical—like sun and wine and grapes and perfect serenity and intense vitality combined."

I Dare You To Read This Book

The Prediction

Mathematical genius Daniel Geller has developed a formula to predict a person’s date of death only to have it rejected by the faculty at Trinity College. Totally devastated Daniel turns his back on the world he once loved.

MY REVIEW
This book is based on mathematical genius Daniel Geller who developed a mathematical formula that can predict a person's death. Things did not go as planned for Daniel. But you must read the book to figure out why. It is full of great twist and turns. The characters in the book are all very well evolved. You really could not ask for more in a book. It is so well written it is hard to believe that this is Darren Sugrue's first book. I am waiting patiently for his second book.

Wait! one more thing I learned a great deal of British words while reading this book. It was a fun add on!

The Beloved Daughter

The Beloved Daughter

In a small North Korean village, a young girl struggles to survive. But it is her father's faith, not the famine of North Hamyong Province, that most threatens Chung-Cha's well-being. Is Chung-Cha's father right to be such a vocal believer?

MY REVIEW

This book was a wonderful book to read. Yet as this is fiction it reads as if it was not. The brutalities that take place in this book really do take place in real life as well, not just to the people who worship god but for no reason at all. I loved the inner strength of Chung-Cha with all she had to endure. Though she wavered in her religion, as we all do at times, this character really is a true believer in putting god first by giving up he daughter to do what was necessary in fighting for religion above all else! AMEN...

A Starfish at a Time

A Starfish at a Time
Join the Steeles on the never ending roller coaster ride of their family life as they share the ups, twists and turns of an ever changing family which now numbers nineteen, with more anticipated. Dana Wynn Steel shares the stories of their special needs children and their adoptions, including one during her battle with breast cancer.

MY REVIEW

Reading about how the Steele family grew one child at a time was a joy but also heart breaking at what each child had to endure to get there. It amazed me at how heartless the social service workers are not thinking of the children really at all. You would think the workers would want these children to have a loving family that is what their job is about. After the children finally get to have their forever home and be a Steele for life it is wonderful to read of how the children change and grow for the better. Each child is loved in this family and is encouraged to be whatever they want in this world no matter what their limitations are. The book was written in a format that each child's story was told in its own chapter making it so easy to read. I would recommend this book to everybody. God Bless the Steele family.

It is amazing what can happen when you have full faith in the lord and have a large heart.

MY REVIEW

Even though I do not have children or am able to I really wanted to read this book. Nowadays it does not matter where you go there are screaming out of control children of all ages. This book had wonderful approaches on how to handle all stages of childhood. I loved the part about the terrible twos, it just makes common sense. There were big portions of the book that reminded me of how children used to be raised and how I was raised. "In Spanish they do not have a word for spoiled, just badly raised." She writes in the book about positive attention and how much of a success it is. True. Like she says in the book "we all thrive on a little kindness, attention and sincere flattery".

Every person should have to get this book if they get pregnant. Than use it as a guide.

   MY REVIEW

I was surprised by this book. It actually had information in it that was useful and interesting. It was just not about smoking pot and that it will help you with your pain but it also explained scientifically what Cannabis sativa is all about. It blew my mind that our body is made to use Cannabis sativa. You will have to read it yourself to find out the how and why's of that. Believe it or not the first Levi's jeans were made from cannabis bast. I think that people from all walks of life should read this informative book. It could change a lot of minds about pot being a bad drug. It is just a plant.

You might think why read about people dying? For one reason how beautiful it is when life comes full circle and you go back home to God. When you read the book you get a close look at all the amazing ways God comforts the dying and how peaceful God makes it for us.
