EINSTEIN'S BEACH HOUSE

22925326
Book Description
A couple adopt a depressed hedgehog; a mother is seduced by the father of her daughter's imaginary friend; a man kidnap's his ex-wife's pet turtle. In eight tragi-comic stories, Einstein's Beach House: Stories features ordinary men and women rising to life's extraordinary challenges.

Review
The book Einstein's Beach House has eight eclectic stories. Each story is distinct creating a book that has something for everyone from quirky to sinister. Appel writes in an enthralling way fascinating the reader with how he puts his words and sentences together, making the narrative unlike any you have read before. Each tale in this book is wrapped up with an ending, but each story will definitely leave you with something to ponder afterwards. My favorite tale in this collection is The Rod Of Asclepius. I also enjoyed Einstein's Beach House, Paracosmos, and Sharing The Hostage was utterly delightful. Although I might not have enjoyed all of Limerence the ending was brilliant. This is a book I think all readers will find something enjoyable in and I recommend it to all.

REVIEW
Sometimes Quickly was a short light read with a plot that has numerous good quality's to it. I found it very interesting how the characters lives were all intertwined together due to one sinister woman. I was definitely intrigued at what was going to happen next and the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat. I was enjoying the book immensely when it just came to an abrupt end without really being finished. It appears as the author sets it up for there to be a second book, yet some major parts of the plot were left unfinished. Such as what became of peg's legal situation? That was a sizable part of the story. Up until the end of the book I was thrilled with what I was reading. I give it 3 1/2 stars wanting to give it more but the inadequacy of the ending was a big disappointment for this reader.

THIS IS NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK

First sponsored in
1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.* It is celebrated April 12th - 18th.

Go and check out your local library. It is full of new places to explore and dead people to meet. You can learn about farts or build a machine. You never know what you will find if you open a book. With the contents of a book you imagination can soar and your adventures will never end. S
o beware reading is addictive and amazing part of your life.

Librarians do not bite, that we know of, or take prisoners, yet, so say "hello" and ask them about your library. If you are stuck on what book you want to read tell them what you like and they will help you find a wonderful book. Because when it comes to books librarians have a special magic.

For more information about Library Week and its history go to the ALA website.

FLOODLANDERS

22031532

Floodlanders is a novella that takes place in 2025 after a severe climate change event that caused water levels to rise flooding major cities. The world has been changed drastically into a place where the strongest survive. This novella is not only about the harsh conditions people have to now endure but of the tragic circumstances that turns a teenager into a man. It is definitely worth the read. With the way our climate is changing you never know this could be our world not that far from now. Floodlanders might be a short story but it lacks in nothing a full book contains.

The author Wayne Marinovich also has written a series of amazing books: The Journey Of Kyle Gibbs. This is not marked as a part of the series and can stand nicely on its own but it does fits into this series giving you more detailed information of the floodlands. It also explains a character's past who is in the second novel PHOENIX.

Check out my past reviews on Wayne Marinovich's other books. Now that you have and are interested and excited in reading all his books there is an order I think that fits the short stories in with the Kyle Gibbs series that will get you the most out of your reading experience.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

The Best Order To Read In
  1. GIBBS: The Early Years
  2. CELT: The Journey of Kyle Gibbs
  3. FLOODLANDERS
  4. PHOENIX: The Journey of Kyle Gibbs

PHOENIX

22701029

The second book in The Journey of Kyle Gibbs Series PHOENIX  did not disappoint. Did you read CELT book 1? I hope so because it will help you in understanding details and portions of the plot in this book a lot better right away. The great thing about Marinovich's writing is that if you picked up PHOENIX and read it first everything that he mentions in this book is at some point explained even if it took place in CELT unlike a lot of other book series.

PHOENIX takes place in 2028 not that far into the future. The world has become a different place due to a climate change that has been so drastic life for people is nothing like it was or has ever been. Sea levels have risen so high major cities are flooded and barely habitable. Gibbs and his mates are released from the prison ship they have been locked up on. Their first orders as mercenaries are from the Global Government Collective. They are to take over France's Nuclear plant. Just as in CELT the world is still run by a group of billionaire now called the GGC. Does this new world want to be run by a few select people just because they have the funds to take over the world? As the world settles into it's new surroundings a resistance leader called Vargen has different plans.
This book goes beyond just killing people and blowing things up. Just like CELT it has so many different levels to it. Such as what the world is like after a massive climate change. Can the world and it's people be bought after such an event or will people come together and take back what is theirs. PHOENIX is full of surprises. The plot races on at full speed and there is not a boring moment to it. If you are the kind of person who likes to guess what will happen next good luck. The twists and turns are like being on a roller coaster ride. This series has something for everyone. There is even a little love story weaved into the plot. Do not think because there is a man with a gun on the cover it is not for you. Never judge a book by it's cover.

Hey Wayne I need the next book to be finished now!
