Supreme Court Victory! May Freedom Ring!!

In a long-sought victory for the gay rights movement, the Supreme Court ruled by a 5-to-4 vote on Friday that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage.

“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family,” he wrote. “In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were.”

“If you are among the many Americans — of whatever sexual orientation — who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate today’s decision,” Chief Justice Roberts wrote. “Celebrate the achievement of a desired goal. Celebrate the opportunity for a new expression of commitment to a partner. Celebrate the availability of new benefits. But do not celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it.”                                                                                *The New York Times

I know this is not book related yet it is something that I had to make an exception for. I sat and cried. Why? Well, now I feel more equal and free than I have in my whole life. If the person I love is in the hospital I can now be by her side and nobody can stop me. As a straight person could you even imagine if your spouse was in the hospital very sick and you could not let you be with them? We can now adopt children as a couple, share health insurance, this list could go on for so long. For me, it was never just  about being married. It's also the freedoms that come with it.

Go Hug Your Person!!!
